Sabina Drąg - performer,
independent researcher and educator. Active in fields of
movement theatre, contemporary pantomime, dance and circus.
Graduated in sociology and contemporary culture at Jagiellonian
University in Cracow. Completed a study of Dramaturgy in
Contemporary Circus at the Sztukmistrze Foundation in Lublin.
She specialises in the history of circus and freak/side shows,
with main focus on XIXth century circus biographies and
herstories. Conducted extended research on the figure of Anna
Olga Brown - famous but almost forgotten circus artist and
entrepreneur Miss Lala. For more than 12 years, she has been
giving workshops, directing performances and organizing
international circus and theater projects. Her main acrobatic
apparatus is pole (chinese pole and pole dance). Co-founder of
the Manowce Kultury Foundation and PROwincja magazine. Editor
of the portal SztukaCyrku.pl, which is a new medium about
contemporary circus in Poland. Currently, she researches the
history of female jesters and clowns at the turn of the century
as well as so-called Lady illusions. In the field of animal
studies she delves into the history of the flea circus and
human-animal hybrids in the circus sideshow.
